1) Stop having overdue library books. I know the local library would really appreciate it, not to mention anyone else who wants to read whatever I've currently kidnapped.
2) Get more exercise. I live downtown; I really ought to manage walking somewhere every day.
3) Write more. Seeing as how I am an author and all.
4) Actually try to find a way to earn money doing something I like. Writing, research, a job at a bookstore or library, something that matches my interests and skills.
And, on that note, Happy New Year, all!

Happy Holidays, All!
I just got back from my family's version of celebrating Christmas - driving around looking at holiday lights and listening to Christmas carols - and figured I should wish everyone a merry whatever to everyone. So...
Merry Christmas!
Happy Hanukkah! (late, I know)
Happy Kwanzaa!
Happy Solstice! (also late, I know)
And a merry and happy anything else anyone might be celebrating.

What Kind of D&D Character Would You Be?
I Am A: Neutral Good Human Wizard (4th Level)
Ability Scores:
Strength-12
Dexterity-14
Constitution-11
Intelligence-15
Wisdom-13
Charisma-12
Alignment:
Neutral Good A neutral good character does the best that a good person can do. He is devoted to helping others. He works with kings and magistrates but does not feel beholden to them. Neutral good is the best alignment you can be because it means doing what is good without bias for or against order. However, neutral good can be a dangerous alignment because because it advances mediocrity by limiting the actions of the truly capable.
Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.
Class:
Wizards are arcane spellcasters who depend on intensive study to create their magic. To wizards, magic is not a talent but a difficult, rewarding art. When they are prepared for battle, wizards can use their spells to devastating effect. When caught by surprise, they are vulnerable. The wizard's strength is her spells, everything else is secondary. She learns new spells as she experiments and grows in experience, and she can also learn them from other wizards. In addition, over time a wizard learns to manipulate her spells so they go farther, work better, or are improved in some other way. A wizard can call a familiar- a small, magical, animal companion that serves her. With a high Intelligence, wizards are capable of casting very high levels of spells.

Proper Introductory Post
As my blog indicates, I'm a writer. I'm working on a detective series and world building for a fantasy series, which all sounds much more impressive than it really is. I've only had one short story published, "Nothing To It," in the print on demand anthology: Down These Wicked Streets. (Hey, I might as well try and sell myself to the people who stumble across this blog.)
I'd love to make a living as a writer, or as a researcher. Well, or a private detective, if I could figure out how to avoid depressing cases. (Yes, I'm in touch with reality, but no one ever said I had to live there.)
I read science fiction, fantasy, and mystery novels, and, less frequently, comics and manga. I also read a lot of non-fiction, mostly history. And I'm absolutely terrible at introductions.
I'm much better at blogging, I promise.

Joining the Semi-Exodus
Yes, I'm yet another livejournal user who has decided to mirror here, with an eye to eventually being a permanent resident. Livejournal, you see, is rapidly losing its marbles (assuming it hasn't lost the last of them all ready).
Consider this something of a sample post, since I'm still figuring out how this place works.
